Blog Optimization for Profit

I found this a very interesting read. Hope you enjoy.

By Jim DeSantis

It takes some research and creativity to find the right money-generating tools for your blog. It's all a matter of your personal tastes. There are many to choose from. We've discussed about using Google Adsense and other merchants' affiliate programs to generate profits from your blog. However, here are even more options to monetize your blog. The first option we'll be looking at is Chitika. What is Chitika you ask? Chitika is a very innovative contextual advertising program because it can serve very detailed advertisements to your blog that fit perfectly with your blog theme. For example, on your technological gadget blog, Chitika will show advertisements for tech gadgets such as iPods. They show them in different tabs: one for "Best Deals", another for "Details", another for "Reviews" and so on. This way, it is more of an informational section for your visitor rather than a blatant advertisement, and naturally the click-through will be higher. You can apply at chitika.com You can also be an affiliate for Amazon.com. Amazon offers a wide range of products but its predominant niche is in physical books. And, like Adsense, you can select Ad blocks that display products that fit your blog perfectly. Whatever your niche is about, you can probably find a book about it on Amazon.com. Keep in mind though, they do NOT pay big bucks. You can refer visitors to them and earn up to 10% commission. It's not a lot but if you can manage to refer big volumes of visitors, Amazon is for you. This program really shines when it comes to the ways you can refer visitors: you can use their predefined templates to pull up recent items that match a certain criteria you set, you can target your ad to show a specific item on sale or you can just simply weave your referral links into your blog posts. Every dime helps so join their Associate program if you are into selling hard and soft cover books. Last, but definitely not least, you can sell advertising space on your blog if your blog is truly popular. Just take a look at blogs like: xiaxue.blogspot.com. That blog receives over 10,000 pageviews every day and naturally merchants will want to strike a deal with the blog's owner to post their advertisements there. If you manage to pull in huge amounts of traffic like that blog, you can definitely get people to buy ad space on your blog for prices from $150/month upwards, depending on your blog popularity. To gauge how many pageviews and visitors you get everyday, just use the free tool available at statcounter.com. They have a very detailed setup guide there so I won't go into it. If your blog has not acquired a large amount of visitors yet, you can still sell ad space on your blog on a per click or per impression basis. Just visit sites like: adbrite.com. For a complete list of these sites, visit: performancing.com. This is just one in a 6 part series that should help you drive readers to your blog and maximize earnings and profits from your blog! Yes, it is possible to quit your day job through blogging. All that stands between you and freedom is working smarter, and sometimes harder, towards your goal. It's a balance. Eventually, after you have worked harder, you will be able to work smarter. I edit 15 blogs. It took 6 months of learning and working harder before I was able to work smarter and begin making extra income. I did not jump on every offer and rejected those marketers who claimed I could make overnight riches with no work on my part. In fact, I have spent less than $100.00! You can do this too! Yours for success! Jim DeSantis P.S. - Please forward this article to someone who may benefit from it! About the AuthorJim DeSantis is a 15 year broadcast News veteran. Affilaite Marketing

There are many different ways to start earning money as an affiliate, but in this article I'm going to outline a simple method that someone with no experience, and no money to spend, can use to start making affiliate commissions.

It revolves around blogging - creating free blogs that actively promote your affiliate programs.

Before you start creating your blog though, you need to decide what affiliate programs you are going to promote. I prefer either high-paying programs, or those that pay recurring commissions on an ongoing basis, like web hosting, for example. Alternatively, you could head to Clickbank, and pick one of thousands of information products to promote

another day

As I have said I'm trying to build a website. My friend who can build sites is desperately trying to complete all his work before he goes off on holiday leaving little or no time to help me.

The problem gets worse because when he comes back I go away. Therefore potentially another month with no website. This must be able to take ads as on my blog. I have emailed some website companies and they don't take javascript.

Therefore if anyone knows a site let me know. I know you can buy website software however you need money to buy one. I have some cash available however I need one of my ideas to start to generate cash to move onto the next.

Why is it so Hard to Quit Smoking?

Smoking in indoor public places came into force as from 1st July in England therefore I know is not really linking in with my thread. However I think it's important.

Why is it Hard to Quit Smoking?

Smoking is emerging to be one of the major causes of death in the modern world. This is attributed to the growing consumers of tobacco. Tobacco is responsible for the death of 1 in 10 adults all over the world, which translates to around 5 million deaths every year. It is because of this fact that cigarette smoking is now a public health priority.

Smoking poses dangers directly and indirectly to the public. An indirect public health concern that cigarettes may pose is accidental fire. As for the health risks in smoking tobacco, the disease mainly strikes the cardiovascular system, resulting to heart attack, respiratory tract diseases, and even cancer.

In spite of these risks, the number of cigarette smokers all other the world has not dropped considerably. Though several smokers claim to have been meaning to quit this habit, they just find it so difficult. The fact is that after smoking for quite sometime, quitting smoking will prove to be very hard, but not impossible.

Why is it hard to quit smoking?

Foremost, this is because the majority of smokers become addicted to the nicotine contained in tobacco products. Nicotine has a deadly addictive power. How? When a person puffs a cigarette, nicotine particles find their way to the lungs through inhalation. From there, nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream just like the oxygen people breathe. It travels with the blood to the brain where it locks onto certain receptor areas. Dopamine is then released into the brain. This is the chemical that makes the smoker feel a euphoric sensation. Smokers find it difficult to quit because they come to be dependent on this good feeling. And in wanting to experience this repeatedly, this leads to dependence – a sign of addiction.

A person who attempts to quit may experience withdrawal symptoms. Topping the bill of withdrawal symptoms is depression. With the absence of the chemical that produces the relaxing feeling, the brain becomes distressed without it. Other withdrawal symptoms from smoking include:

- Headaches, dizziness, and nausea
- Shakes, chills
- Cough, dry throat nasal drip
- Hunger, fatigue
- Constipation, gas or stomach pain
- Insomnia, troubled sleep

Not knowing what to do with their hands is another common complaint among ex-smokers while quitting. Once people get hooked, smoking becomes a big part of their lives. They seem to enjoy holding on a stick of cigarette and puffing on them. And after a long period of lighting up, it becomes a routine. As a fact, humans are creatures of habit. By some force of habit, smokers find themselves reaching for a cigarette and lighting it up automatically without thinking about it.

Certain “triggers” in the environment may also hamper a smoker’s desire to quit. Things may turn on a smoker’s need for a cigarette. These may be feelings, places, and moods. Even the things done routinely may trigger this craving for a smoke.

For those who have been smoking for quite a while already, they may not realize it but they form some emotional attachment to cigarettes. They find the cigarette calming and comforting during those stressful times. Cigarette smoking somehow becomes an extension of their social life, particularly when they are emotionally at the highest or lowest. Giving the smoker a feeling that giving up smoking would seem like giving up a trusted friend.

These are only some of the major reasons why it is hard to quit smoking. But there are also several strategies and quitting techniques that may aid smokers to finally give up on this tenacious habit. Quitting smoking all begins with one’s intention to stop. They must have the will power to overcome the craving for smoke. There are also a lot of quit smoking products in the market. These may also be worth trying. Support groups are proved to be very helpful, too.

Smokers must understand that to quit smoking may take more than one attempt. They must also try several methods before they can finally succeed. Smoking is a stubborn habit because it is closely tied to the acts in the course of people’s everyday lives.
Just pay a serious concern to a few issues.
1. The first thing you must consider is your body; you must take care and keep it healthy.
2. Secondly, decision to kill your enemy who is killing you.
3. Thirdly, cost that smoking has caused for you. You have spent a lot on this poison.
4. Lastly forget the past that will help you in quit smoking. Just remember that nicotine is my enemy and is killing me slowly.

With determination, will power and a strategy, quit smoking is not out of the question.

Next Union Meeting

I have another union meeting set up for next week. Hopefully I should finally start to see light at the end of the tunnel in relation to the work front.

As I am having difficulting finishing my websites and how I expect them to be and run. I have decided to look at other options to run along my websites. So I am now looking at all the different options. It is so hard to decide what route to take that will enable me to receive an small but an immediate win win situation.

Optimizing Adsense

Some people have been trying to declare that Adsense is dead. Others complain about the fact that Adsense just doesn't seem to pay enough money (usually these are people who try once or twice, then give up with Adsense). Then you have the people who are making real money, realizing more revenue per click, and are consistently seeing clickthrough ratios in excess of 10%. What are their secrets, and how are they doing it?

Affilaite Marketing

When I finish setting up my websites I will move more into affiliate marketing.

http://www.affiliatekb.com/article/717/factors-affiliate-programs.html

When deciding what affiliate program(s) to use on your site, there are many factors to consider. You will, of course, have to narrow down the selection by searching for programs related to your site’s topic. But, depending on site, you will find yourself with a quite long list of potential affiliate program – All with different types of commission. What should you choose, what information is relevant, and most important, which program will make you the most money?

1. Size of commission

The size of commission is, of course, the single most important factor. While this is an easy factor to compare, the comparison between a fixed commission and revenue share can pose a problem. You need to look at the estimated average sale to get a figure to compare. This isn’t always easy, but generally speaking the higher the price of the product, the higher your revenue will be. This is easy enough, but sometimes the products are cheap, but people but many items, thus adding up to nice commissions. Try to evaluate the niche you are in, who are you referring? What are they likely to buy? The more information you have about your visitors, the better off you’ll be.

Job Situation

I had my next meeting with the union. I thought it went very well. We discussed a few options and my union rep will follow them up with management and get back to me.

These options are all well and good however the proof is in the pudding. I just hope that my position is resolved within the near future. I am going completely mad in my present position and this has nothing to do with the job or the people that I work with.

My union states that they my employers should find me a position to challenge me?

Hopefully that will materialize soon.

As I have been concentrating on work and family over the last few days . The work in hitting this target has regressed.

However it is still very much in my thoughts and I have signed up up for a few more surveys. Just to keep things moving along.

The website I am having a complete rethink. This has not been put to bed. It is very much in my thoughts I just want to get it right.

The Tricks Behind Clickbank and Adwords

Steven Holdaway might be one of the web's top experts on using Adwords to promote affiliate programs. What are his qualifications? Well, in January of this year he managed to pull in $158,237.40 from just one Clickbank account using Adwords. And that's just an ordinary month. For those of us who have tried to use Adwords to promote affiliate products, however, the process can be maddening. I was fortunate enough to pick the brains of Steven for a while to get his insights into Adwords, the quality score, and how any marketer can get started right away trying to match his earnings...

School Play

Not much tonight had my daughters school play. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Although here is a another snip it.

The Size of Trust

I’m sure you’ve heard various experts talk on and on about how ‘the money is in the list’. But this sort of thinking is, quite frankly, outdated (and grossly undervalued). In regards to any affiliate marketing, its not the size of your list that matters – it’s the size of your trust. Brian Edmondson proved this when he beat some of the biggest affiliate marketers at their own game, and ended up making over $15,000 in 7 days from just 1,200 subscribers. I sat down with Brian and talked about how he managed to do it.

Job and web site

Both are not going well at the moment. My meeting with the union has been put back, something must be happening, well I hope so.

My web site ideas have virtually bit the dust. Although I thought I had undertaken enough research into building websites. I have found out subsequently want I wanted these sites to do will not work.

Has this put me off. NO! Set me back a bit yes and knocked me out of my stride. However I will keep on going and I will get every to work.

Another interesting Article.

A Unique Look at Adwords Advertising

Ian Rollinson has developed a rather 'unique' method to Adwords. He has done what every good enterpreneur does: he looked at the marketplace from an angle that others were simply ignoring and discounting. When he did this, he found a unique way to use Adwords that was bringing him highly targeted traffic for less than 1 cent per click (and the traffic was very, very good). Ian talked with me about Adwords advertising, his approach, and what an affiliate marketer has to do today to be successful with Adwords.

Websites

Still having problems getting my 2 sites working properly.

Yes 2 sites, 1 not working properly is bad enough and now 2.

I must be doing very simply wrong and that will be the problem solved however when you have to fit this into a working day and also spend time with your wife and kids . It is frustrating!

Oh well back to the drawing board.
